• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

    .50 Cal Ammo Tray Solutions

It seems a lot of us are toying with .50 cals these days! I up-gunned some of my vehicles over the last few weeks and I wanted to share some of what I did, in hopes this will help. Based on a photo, I used the 21C .30 cal cradle: I had to cut it and add spacers for it to fit. I built an...

    WSC Ambulance

Today I may have begun another project. For the first time since I bought it circa 2002, I took apart my White Scout Car. I wanted to figure out how much work it would take to make it into an ambulance. These were sometimes used by armored units. I'm not planning to go whole hog on it, but I do...

    M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet

I have a couple of custom projects for 2011 for which I could use some education and inspiration. One of them is that I would like to sew an M 1942 Winter Combat Helmet for my tank crews: I have a sewing machine and can just barely use it, so I thought this might be a good learning project...

    Tank/aircraft microphone T-17-B

I have a couple of custom projects for 2011 for which I could use some education and inspiration. One is that I would like to make a T-17-B microphone for my tank crews. I would appreciate some input on the project, if anyone is interested. I will probably make the bullet-shaped main portion...

    Armored combat: M5A1 vs. Schäferhund

In the dreary snowscape of the Ardennes, a lone M5A1 plays a deadly game of hide-and-seek with a Schäferhund (I believe it is an Ausf. C). YouTube - 2010 12 31 Tank ride 009

    Tank Gun Fire Simulator?

(OK forgive me, but there are so many posts on Stuarts and other tanks that I got bogged down wading through them. Also on Google I'm not sure even what keywords to use so I got thousands of results, none of which were my answer that I could see.) Is there a gizmo out there that would simulate...

    Dingle berries of luck

I was convinced my RC Stuart's motors were burned out. Turns out it was just a poxy battery! I'm back in business. I was killing time after replacing the battery at a local college: YouTube - RC Tank in the snow Now I have to customize it some more!

Kicking a dead horse: Krauts or Allied stuff more cool?

While I haven't been terribly attentive on the boards over the last couple of years, I remember posts coming up from time to time with titles like "Why is German stuff so much cooler than the Allied stuff?" and so on. "Sir, I have an opinion on this matter." American stuff is just as cool as...

    Low-flying German aircraft

    Never throw anything away!

In most of my hobbies, including this one, I go in fits and starts. I get really into it for a while, whether a couple of weeks or six months or more, then I set it aside and do something else. This time around in my 1/6 obsession, I have really been glad to have all the bits and pieces of...

    Opinions? M3A1 White Scout Car

I have a 21C White Scout Car. It doesn't fit in with my historical time frame (Battle of the Bulge). When I finally get around to working on it, I'm considering converting it into an ambulance. Does anyone have an opinion to offer on this?

    Convoy in the Snow

These are ALL of my US figures that are at any stage of completion. These are all but 3 of my US vehicles.* I continue with the Ardennes theme, with a convoy driving down a snowy road. I'm afraid I may have to take a break from lying on my belly...

Moment Frozen in Time: Get ready to move out!!

(I went back and forth on whether this was a "Figures" thread or a "Armor" thread. I went with armor because these guys don't pound the ground.) Another Moment Frozen in Time from the Frozen North! The other day, when I did the photoshoot with the camp fire, I got inspired about tanks and...

Camp fire in the snowy Ardennes

Some of you know I lived in Florida for years, and also that the period I'm interested is the Battle of the Bulge. I did a lot of outdoor shoots in Florida, but it never looked like the Ardennes! FINALLY I have a backdrop that really looks like NW Europe in the winter! (Except for the houses of...

Too dang cold for this! Fallschirmjäger Sentry

It was 14º F (-10º C for you non-American types! ) this morning in my back yard, so like a good Minnesotan, I decided to go outside and play! I modified the pictures to kinda look like a period color photo, but I also am including the original unaltered pics for comparison. Please let me...

Platoon building, and using up stuff I had lying around

Hi fellow man-dolly addicts. First, a little background. I am a Realtor. Economically, things were good a few years ago. Now they suck. I think I was always afraid this would happen. Up until about 2007, I obsessively bought up 1/6 scale stuff, so that I have boxes of stuff that I have never...

    Figure upgrades on the cheap

I haven't been idle while waiting to restart my AT project. I have been working on my platoon of Volksgrenadiers. A few years ago I went on a compulsive buying spree, out of an irrational fear that the stuff I wanted wouldn't be manufactured anymore. Also I had money back then. My objective...

Photo source: German Federal Photo Archives

http://www.bild.bundesarchiv.de/ There are absolutely incredible photos here that you just don't find in the normal Google searches. Titles are in German, so it doesn't hurt to know some German place names or terms. You can search by years, location, even by the photographer. For example...
