• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Nice work on the figures!

Re unit badges on uniforms, nurses weren’t allocated directly to front line units and I’ve never seen a picture of any with one, medics (Sanitäter) would definitely wear them, there were doctors at battalion level but can’t say I have seen a photograph of one wearing unit insignia.

There’s lots of pictures on the net below is a good thread on WarRelics you can wade through all the pics there of WW II German doctors/medics/nurses/hospitals…

Cheers!

Hello Darling Baaa, LOL
i was pretty sure I had it right with the medics, just wasn't sure about the doctor and nurses. I figured if they were DRK they wouldn't wear them. Am I right the DRK was NOT a part of the military? I sometimes get confused by all the German organizations.
Thanks so much for the link, it will sure keep me busy.

Nice figures indeed and I've always liked the DML releases on such figures (goes great with their kubelwagen ambulance). I am looking to redo one of the kubel ambulances circa Normandy...when, who knows but it's on the ever-growing list. Cheers for sharing, Steve

HI STEVE,
THANK YOU, I'M GLAD YOU LIKE THEM.
OH, I'D ALMOST KILL FOR A KUBEL AMBULANCE. I HAD TWO BUT LOST THEM WHEN MY HOUSE BURNED DOWN. ALONG WITH MY TIGER, PANTHER, 3 250'S 4 MOTORCYCLES AND THE LIST GOES ON.
I HOPE YOU POST YOURS WHEN IT'S DONE, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT.

That is shocking news regards your collection 'Dancinghorse', no doubt many a tear shed from losing such a fine assortment and some, no matter how much insured, would be personally priceless. I have a couple of DML Kubel ambulance versions with the intent on one day doing them up (though I've had this plan for several years now) but should time not be in my favour or I lose interest in such a project I'll keep you in-mind should I decide to let them go. Cheers, Steve

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THINKING OF ME BUT I DOUBT I COULD AFFORD THEM. I'M ON DISABILITY NOW, UNLIKE THEN, AND DON'T HAVE A LOT TO SPEND ON MY HOBBY. FROM THE PRICES I'VE SEEN ON EBAY THERE'S NO WAY I COULD BUY ONE.
YOU ARE VERY RIGHT, MANY MANY TEARS WERE SHED, ESPECIALLY AS THERE WAS NO INSURANCE.
I SO LIKE YOUR WORK SO I HOPE YOU AT LEAST FIX AND POST ONE KUBEL. I REALLY LIKE TO SEE IT.
THANKS AGAIN

That is a shame to hear in so many aspects and I do hope that things can only improve on all fronts for you going forward. E (for expensive) Bay is renown for overpricing yet there are times when I've just had to bite the bullet in order to obtain what I require on occasion. As for doing up a kubel ambulance, perhaps Christmas or next year, has been something I've wanted to do for a few years now but time, as well all suffer from time to time, just gets away from us but your request definitely has put such a project back at the forefront of my mind on things to do. Cheers, Steve
