1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

I want to put some pictures of my Enigma project in the prototype stage. The Enigma I have ruled, as it has a few glitches that I have already fixed in the new version that is under construction.

It is an unfinished version, and one I used for my diorama of the Sixth Army Group contest. (I threw up and had time to finish the whole scene). You see, this version has all the internal mechanical rotors (that can be rotated and choose their position in the box) and has its external rotor box.

This a bit sloppy (usually the first to do always is flawed and in addition is made fast to the diorama), also in these photos is missing the front connectors ... but so is going to be seeing the final version.

This version has nearly 150 Parts ...

I hope suggestions ...

A photo in the assembly phase where they look pretty good and its mechanical rotors.

It has a new assembly system of the wood pieces (I have confined myself to the actual assembly of the puzzle in a castle) which gives a much more real. (Well appreciated in the top cover)

Here almost finished ...

And here some pictures of the Real Enigma, to do comparisons ...

...

Re: 1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

Hi,

I am just stunned at the detail in this 1/6th scale enigma machine, as i have seen the real full size item up close.
And i don't think i have ever seen anything that is so near to the real item.
And to even have the wooden joints on the box lid, so it all slots together is just outstanding.
As for the rotors, i am certain that Jose has a magical shrink ray to get them to look as good as that.

Thanks Bill ... yes you need it, but the size of the pieces is more or less as in the Switchboard ... although it is a little more difficult to assemble ... not harder, but it has more pieces ...

Re: 1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

I put some pictures of Diorama detail, and a general

The booklet and the scoop on who writes ...

Signal magazine, the letter of the bride and the food ...

The pot where the encrypted messages burn ...

A closest to the table with the Enigma and the guns wheathered ... (wheathered with the Ricard method... thanks ...)

And the complete diorama ...

I hope you like ...

Re: 1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

I was so blown away by the Enigma machine that I almost forgot about the dio scene. The attention to detail is great, the room looks great, the figures are posed naturally and I love the little details. I always am making copies of pictures of stuff I find online and printing them so I have all those little items to lay around. Of course the Enigma Machine is just awesome. I am constantly looking thru the craft sections and toy sections looking for items I can use in dios. A lot of the times the little items make the dio/vignette.
You research is well done and I am sure why this piece is so well done.

When are these going to be available for sale?

Hi Jack... thanks a lot... how about your film?

I am making now the final version with some adjustments and some things that i dont put in this version... I am also taking advantage to make the photos for the tips and tricks. Then i must make the assemble instructions... and make some kits

I want to make 2 versions:

The Basic One, without interior and no external rotor box, more easy to assemble and therefore cheaper,
And one full or complete with all included... a litle more expensive and quite difficult to mount.

This way... thus access to more people who want to buy and that the complexity of assembly does not dare.
I think that i have all ready in a month or month and a half. I dont Know by the moment how it will cost... but i want to say you that i want to down prices a little... to make it more accessible.

Thanks to all...

Re: 1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

After being all week trying to solve the problem with Enigma kit hinges, at the end I've come up with a solution that closely resemble the system of Real Enigma hinges, and are fully functional at 1 / 6 ...

The original system that brings real Enigma is a double hinge system that I try in the Prototype (2 hinges are in the right of the video), but when the test I realized it would be impossible to make it work because in the real Enigma, hinges and doubling back on themselves, tilting up and down for a few rails that are virtually impossible to scale 1 / 6, at least for a kit that you can mount and more people when the space or gap that you have to make everything work is only 1mm thick

In the end I devised a system that works perfectly ... and together with piano hinges ... give the whole set is sufficient for a resemblance to the real Enigma.

A pretty tough been a week ... because without this option, the Enigma kit would not be as original ... and that, after 1 month of work and design .. I threw overboard all my ideas and concepts about I want it to be this Kit.

I made a video of it to function ... I hope you like it (is made with the mobile ...)

Re: 1/6 WWII German Enigma Cipher Machine - Prototype

Hi,

I just looked at your video of the hinge....

I am just astounded at how you have made this work, as i know just how much work and time you have put into this.

As this enigma machine in 1/6th scale has now gone far beyond, just being a scale item.

Hi Brad

Do not know which you mean... could be the Grosse F., the big centralite? or the German clocks?

Grosse Feldklappenschrank (a little difficult to remember, by this reason i say Grosse F. )

In this post:
http://www.sixtharmygroup.com/forums...chboard-2.html

This proyect is paused until I finish the Enigma, then I make a simple step by step assemble instructions (its easy to assemble and the tips and trick are very similar to Switchboard that people can see it). For Grosse F. I take orders and only make it for people who order me...

When I return to Grosse F. proyect i ask for people interested.... dont worry...

jeje... here in spain its a "gramofono" ... gramophone...

All its easy... but the speaker its too dificult, not only make it... if not also make copies that look real ... would have to be very thin to give a good appearance.

...maybe in the near future to do so, if everything goes as I have thought ...
