British Wireless Set 22
Work on my airborne jeep was halted for a litte while as I needed to work on a much needed piece of kit for the jeep: a British Wireless Set 22. During Market Garden WS-22 sets were used next to the well known WS-19 sets. I already have a WS-19 set from Panzerwerks, but I wanted to have a metal trellis for it. At first I only planned to design a trellis in 3D and have it printed. When I found out that WS-22 were also used during OMG, I thought it would be an upportunity to take the next step and design a full set.
This WS-22 was designed by me using 3D design software (Cubify Design), which I then had printed in 3D by Shapeways. I used a DTP-program (Scribus) to design waterslide decals for the fronts of the set. This was a fun project and I learned a lot that I will be able to use in future projects. In the next version I will have the trellis and controlbuttons printed using a different -more expensive- material so they will be sharper, with less grain as now can be seen on the pictures. I'm curious to find out what you think. All critique is welcomed! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: British Wireless Set 22
Looks very nice and would be even better in the back of a jeep.
![]() I will be doing a Brit airborne jeep sometime in the future and will start collecting parts to make that happen so please keep us updated on any progress and who we can acquire these from. Jeff (Geppetto) ![]() |

Re: British Wireless Set 22
That is awesome work...love the protector grill (wish I could get one of those for mine). I've attached a rearward pic of my Brit A/B Recce 'Comms' Jeep (a DML Kit build jeep conversion) so that you can get some idea regarding wireless colours...I based the colours off an actual 22 Set. Given your great work, now inspired to making a grill for it one day.
The layout of the 'Comms' Jeep is based on several references including what I consider a worthwhile read for anyone interested in the 1st A/B Div's Recce Sqn - John Fairley's 'Remember Arnhem' which provides some good account on what the jeeps contained and how they were used and the 'go-to' book - Rob Van Meel's 'British Airborne Jeeps - Modifications and Markings'. Thanks for sharing...Steve Last edited by panzerwerk; 08-14-2015 at 03:03 PM. |

Re: British Wireless Set 22
Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated.
@Steve, that is a Panzerwerk WS-19 in your wonderful jeep right? I could probably modify my design for the protector grill to fit the WS-19 (and powerunit) and make it available on Shapeways for you to order directly. I could add some of my other items like the microphone and the morse-key? Would there be more interest from other members? |

Re: British Wireless Set 22
Correct you are Dutchman (what was I thinking???)...as for your offer...thanks very much, count me in if you choose to mass-produce and sell, I'd buy the 19 set and all its component parts and replace the 22 set with it.
Cheers...Steve |

Re: British Wireless Set 22
That's a very nice WS-19 you have made. I don't have the finesse in my fingers to create those tiny parts so 3D printing is my salvation.
Yes, I will be in Duiven coming october. |
