British Wireless Set 18 Mark III

Here are some 'pre-production' pictures of my next project: a British Wireless Set 18 Mark III. Overall it's 90% done, most of the work still needs to be done on the carrier harnass, for which I'm awaiting delivery of buckles etc. The final version will have a khaki canvas cover & carrier harnass instead of the current olive drab color. Materials used are -3D printed- polymer, resin, styrene, brass, cotton and waterslide decals.

I intend to do a limited run of this wireless set (need 2 additional ones for myself anyway) so if anyone is interested, please send an email to diorama_accessories@outlook.com and I'll contact you when the final version is available. I have not worked out a price yet, but it will likely be compareble to my British Wireless Set No-22 (which can still be ordered). The WS-18 will also come with a microphone and morse-key.

Re: British Wireless Set 18 Mark III

Hello all,

Here are a few more pictures of my progress on this WS-18 set. Updates include:
- New canvas cover in correct color
- New antennea consisting of 4 seperate sections, made completely from brass
- Correct carrying harnass with proper buckles

I'd like to thank Johnny Canuck for providing detailed pictures of several items, complete with measurements. I wouldn't have gotten this far without him.

Still working out a few more details, like the proper brackets to attach the waistbelt to the radio. They have been ordered from Shapeways and hopefully I will have them in 2 weeks time.

Canvas cover removed to show details.

This British wireless set mark III is now finished. Below are pictures of the final set. Improvements to the previous version include:
- new brackets that attach the wireless to the waistbelt
- shoulder belts lenghtened a bit to allow carrying the wireless when wearing battle dress
- new headset

If you are interested in obtaining your own set, please see my post in the Crap game section.

Re: British Wireless Set 18 Mark III

That's the first time I've ever seen a 1/6th Brit Set 18...excellent scratch-built job and I wish they'd (some 1/6th mob) would bring one out for general release. Thanks for sharing, really great detail. Steve
