Always impressive, the size of that gun and the back ground is amazing.

Yet another triumph for the Vonabt crew. And another GIGANTIC prop by Peter Shaw! I love the background integration. It rivals the best motion picture work.

Beautiful work and one big item that is.

Where does he store all these when done?

Re: new Vonabt photoshoot K5 Rail gun

I thought Forum Members might like to know the background to this Dio. I built the K5 some 8 years ago but we have never been able to use it in a Dio because of its size and weight and lack of suitable backgrounds.
With the use of modern technology we are now able to film items like the K5 in its storage site, as our behind the scenes shots show, and add the background later.
Things are not that easy because you still have to go out and find the suitable background and then photograph it in such a manner that it will fit in with the positioning of the gun.
We held the shoot back in February hence our winter clothing in the Group Photo. It wasn't until last month that our group computer wizard found just what we were looking for in Norway. It was a disused rail link that was built for the Luftwaffe to service a new airfield which was later taken over by the Norweigens.
I think you will agree that it fits the situation perfectly but only after some very fine computer work. Please enjoy it.
By the way if there is someone out there who has a 1/6th scale K5 tucked away in their garage I would be pleased to hear from you.

A really great set of work all around, from model to location photography to composite work. A really great team effort.

Re: new Vonabt photoshoot K5 Rail gun

That is outstanding. I think Aberdeen used to have one of those or I may be off on the model. But it is one freaking big gun. Amazing

Re: new Vonabt photoshoot K5 Rail gun

I just knew the backgrounds had to be very carefully lined up and shot with various focal lengths to get such perfect composites. Bravo!
