sdkfz 164 Nashorn

Hello men
With the release of the Pak 43 from Armortek, I had an idea that should not get out of my head.
I have to have a rhinoceros in 1/6I bought a rhinoceros from FOA. This serves to measure. The rhino is a really great kit from FOA. but there will be some improvements, as the first I have built a new vehicle bucket from 2mm steel.the Pak 43 is also a very nice model of the company FOA. but I want to use the cannon as in real. That's why I decided to buy the PAK from Armortek. unfortunately the PAK is very poorly detailed I will resort to sharing on FOA.

Re: sdkfz 164 Nashorn

This will be a great project. The Nashorn is a great subject. The Armortek kit is lacking some finer details, but will make a great base for adding new features. Following with interest.

Heiko you never cease to amaze me! Looking forward to your master build of the Nashorn in 1/6 scale. I will take the compliment that you will use parts of the resin FOA Pak43 to detail your Armortek gun!

FOA just finished the Hummel sFH-18 gun in 3D print. It is an amazing beast on that chassis as well

I know the sFH-18 gun I need from you too. when you have finished, please let me know. because the chassis of the sFH-18 is the same as the PAK 43. and I will assemble your sFH-18 with the chassis armortek. to own a heavy field howitzer 18 please let me know if it is available in your shop.

Re: sdkfz 164 Nashorn

it continues in small steps. where it was particularly difficult for me was the recording and storage and the associated suffering wheel.
but this problem is also solved. next, a stable tube support had to be built that the heavy Armortek gun can also withstand.

Hello men
I don't want to hide my progress from you either.
in the meantime i have all my running rubbers poured, now all i have to do is pour and use my star for the rollers, which i have poured from my armor IV armored car.
because the star pattern from Armortek would have been priceless.
I have already continued to work on the superstructures, the chassis will soon be finished. I have largely built the Leidrad chain tensioner based on the original.

Hi men

Back to the construction report. The rhinoceros is now on its own chains. and runs flawlessly it is so powerful that you can ride it yourself.
the Fahrwek stands.
now it goes on to 10,000 small details that I have to recreate

Re: sdkfz 164 Nashorn

Hello Heiko,
Your Rhino is looking awesome, one of my favorite tank killers. You have made great improvement on Spearhead chassis. Great details so far.

I saw on Armortek forum you wish to trade PZ II Luch from Metalbox. Do you not like the Luch? I have one as well, I like it overall, although electronics are garbage. Just curious your thoughts on the model.

Best regards,
Bob

Re: sdkfz 164 Nashorn

I have been doing model building for almost 20 years now, and I have been annoyed about the inclusion of air in resin molding for almost as long.
Yes i know there are many tricks to minimize them but without negative pressure it will never be 1000% what.
I thought about it for a long time, but now the decision has been made, I decided to buy a 3D printer because Resin Gießen no longer seems up to date with the current state of the art
for me ABS PLA or just a tool is not the solution because they are not so fine and clean printing, their strengths are somewhere else.
But when it comes to detailing, resin is just awesome. The smooth surface is awesome.
My own claim to detail the rhinoceros as exactly as possible left me with no rest like just the small fuse boxes, holders, and radio devices.
there is only one thing left to 3D print.
Taken away a good friend of mine is a very talented technical drawer who drew the FUG 5 as well as many other things for the rhino
I implement these with my printer #
to FUG 5- (

Usually the rhinoceros was equipped with a FUG 5 (in the tub at the RO), the command variant had an FUG 8 in the rear right rear.

FUG 5- 8 consists among other things from the following parts:
1x MW.E.c - medium wave receiver c
1x 30W.S.a - 30 watt transmitter a
1x EUa receiver converter / transistor
1x U30b -
1x 12 volt distribution box Z 23
1x Z23 - 12 volt junction box
The connected intercom ran exclusively via the FUG 5 ... As far as can be seen, the FUG 8 is only used for communication with the staff ...

Re: sdkfz 164 Nashorn

Thank you men,
Not much happened. Just a few small things, in the meantime I've given a lot of thought to the color scheme of my rhinoceros.
And this is how my tank should look roughly, but at the moment I have to paint 2-3 tanks from a model building friend.
If my tanks are in the back line for the time being, I think I will only be able to start them in early 2021 that is how long my report will be frozen.
