BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Just posting these photos of the cut sheets for "M & C Flat Armor's" new kit. Mike "Panzerjuan" Pompa asked me to post them to show the preliminary kits. They are waterjet cut 1/8 inch sheet styrene that go together with regular plastic model cement. I plan on picking one up myself as I am lacking in Russian armored vehicles. The builder will just have to add their own wheels and weapons.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

I agree. It looks like a nice project kit. However, there is no mention of where to purchase these or what the cost is.

Looks like a nice project.

Has anyone ever made templates for a Staghound?

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Mike thanks for posting my contact information and the pictures of the kit. We do have plans for the Staghound but it will be for the AA Turret version. I will make a separate post in the Quartermaster corps.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Not to sidetrack the discussion for the Russian armored car, I just looked up the Staghound AA version, which I was not aware of, and would be interested in purchasing templates when available.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Some more photos of the kit taped together to give perspective and compared to a 1/6 scale jeep.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Mike thank you for posting these. That is an Empire Jeep for comparison. The kit is complete with the exception of putting the front fenders on, front louvers, and the gun port covers.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

I have mine. Took the time to open the package. First step was labeling the parts before I begin taking them out of the sprue. Thatís as far as I got.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Looks very interesting. Does the kit come with a diagram for the build and what glue is needed for the plastic?

From a little research looks like an anti-tank rifle was used in the turret. Were there any machine guns mounted in it? I would think that a DsHK 12.7 would be more than the vehicle could handle, though I'd like to find an example of it used. The Russians did a lot of field mods on their vehicles. Wonder if any Browning 30 cal M1s were used.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

If I have time I will see if I can come up with some sort of guide. Between grad school & a new job my time is limited. The pvc this is made from bonds well with superglue. I buy mine at the Dollar Tree. The bond is stronger than the plastic and the plastic will fail before the glue.

There are some nice reference pics on this modeling forum:
https://ipmsmalta.forumotion.net/t12...rt-first-paint
They even have some pics of the machine gun mount.

The soviets used a DT machine gun. I believe dragon released one with a Soviet tanker in the past. I havenít seen any heavy weapons variants (it was basically built in a Jeep frame) but I think there was an open top reconnaissance version. Iíd love to see any variants they came up with!

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a clear plastic film on one side of the sheet. You need to remove it from every part.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

Will you be using jeep tires and wheels for the build?

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

That is my plan. I know they were different since the Gaz & Willyís werenít exactly the same. But if you have a line on where to affordable purchase Jeep wheels/tires Iíd appreciate knowing.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

There are some jeep tires for sale on ebay. Am checking on some RC hobby store sites for tires and wheels that are as close in size as possible. Not all sites list the tire height and width dimensions.

Re: BA-64 Armored Car Kit

You could try to get some spare wheels from the 1/6 RC jeep:
