Are these puttees in the right place?

Hi,

I am wondering if i can ask, if i have got the Gebirgsjager puttees right on these boots?

As i am not sure if they are too high, and if the buckle does go on the outside or not?

Thanks.

Gary

Servus Gary,

Your Wickelgamaschen (puttees) look to be a little high on the boot. On the real ones, there is a hook at the tip of puttee that you hook into the boot laces then wrap around the boot a couple of times and then up to bottom of the trousers. The buckle usually ends up on the outside, but wartime photos show it in a number of places depending on how they were wrapped.

Here's my reenactment group...you can see that my Jägers all have Wickelgamaschen:

Putties should cover the knot/bow/tie off at the top of the boot.

Hi,

Many thanks for the replies.

I have altered the position of the puttees, and they do look better now.

The puttees and the trousers form the Toys City set have been a nuisance to work with, especially as i am using them on a DiD body which is slightly taller, plus where the trousers buttons fasten is right where there is a bulge on the abdomen of the figure. Which does not give me a lot of room to play with at the bottom of the trousers for the puttees.
