• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

German uniform question

SLICK7

Company Commander
I have several DiD figures. I notice that sometimes the wound badge is on the inside of the left breast pocket and sometimes on the left side of the same pocket. Is one incorrect?

My other question is the breast eagle. Example: On Major Achbach the eagle is above the right pocket and on Wittmann it is on the left sleeve. Can anyone explain the difference??

as far as the eagle-it goes on the arm for ss troops and on the breast for regular heer troops. the wound badge is generally on the lower part of the left breast pocket either on the right or left side of the pocket depending on other battle insignia awarded.-hope this helps

Correct. There is an individual eagle design for each branch of the service as well.

Where the Wound badge sits on the lower left breast pocket is indeed dictated by the other medals present. This can become quite complex on a veteran's uniform.

Civilian decorations could also be worn by personnel who were awarded them during (or before) active service. An example would be medals awarded by the Spanish to Germans during the Spanish Civil War could be worn by Luftwaffe personnel in addition to German awarded medals based on Spanish Civil War service (Such as the several versions of the Spanish Cross).

This is a very complex area of study and, like many other aspects of German uniforms, there is copious photographic evidence of myriad variations.

And dispite regulations you will find pictures where medals are worn contrary to regulations
