• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

My little train!

I have always liked trains,I got it from my dad, but especially I love narrow gauge trains, they are so cute, I have always wanted to do a narrow gauge train but I had trouble finding specs, last summer my family went to a model train show and I talked to a guy who had a large scale, G scale, layout with some little engines that looked perfect for what I wanted to build, he didn't have any plans but he gave me some key words to search, after digging around the web for several hours I decided on a Jung EL 105, they were built before the war and after, but I have lots of pictures of them being used for war time building projects.
I found some wheels on ebay, they are a little too big but I was able to stretch the frame so they aren't noticeable, I also found the track on ebay. Every thing else is scratch built! The hand brakes actually work!
One day I'll build a diorama big enough to incorporate it into.DSC_0003.jpgDSC_0005.jpgDSC_0004.jpgDSC_0006.jpg

It's not motorized right now but it would be very easy to do it in the future.
My family and I live on 5 acres and I always wanted to do a small railroad between all the houses!

Sounds like a dream I have had since moving out to the sticks :D

Very cool, I have seen a WW 1 narrow gauge western front steam engine at the Australian War Memorial Annex Canberra they look awesome!

I would have loved to done steam, but by WW2 most of the smaller steam stuff had been replaced with diesels, someday I will probably build a little steamer though!
