• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

New to 1/6th Scale WWII

Good morning all,

Recently I have come upon a ungodly amount of 1/6 scale models mostly from dragon or DID. Literally a couple hundred unopened boxes and I really don’t know where to begin? Should I open some and show my kids? Should I try to sell them online or to a hobby shop? There are also a lot of diorama sets such as German stove, panther turret top, and trenches. These were my Uncles who was a big collector for the past 20 years. He also has boxes of torsos, heads, hands, and bags of accessories.
I would recommend that if you are going to open some for the kids, start off with any duplicates. Other than that, it depends what you'd like to do. If no interest, then selling would be first option. There is the Crap Game section of this forum, and other than that the usual choice is ebay.
Contacting one or more of the reputable and honest dealers about making a deal for the lot, or parts of the lot, is an option if you do not want to spend the time to sell things off individually.

Please be careful in whom you deal with. There are plenty of shady characters who would be happy to part you from your Uncle's gift.
I would echo both Rolling Thunder and Sixth Vanguard's advice. If you have little interest and kids don't show any you can post items here in the Crap Shoot to off load pieces. eBay is another opinion, but the nearly 14% fees will hurt after awhile. I echo the about contacting honest dealers if you try offloading at wholesale, but be careful of trying FB groups or the FB marketplace. A lot of shady characters will be more than happy to part you from your uncle's collection.

If you need advice, there are plenty of members here that can help you out or answer any questions.
Another choice for selling off an entire collection is to go to, as Sixth Vanguard stated, a reputable buyer such as Zhukov's Attic, War Toys. JP Hobbies or Justice Fighters, who are listed in the "Quartermasters" section of this forum. You could take photos of all the items, send to the companies listed above and take the best offer.

Sorry if I missed some companies, as just about all listed in the Quartermaster's section have been vetted by our members, and any bad ones have been listed in the ":Cooler" section of the forum
