• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

use of 3cell ammo pouch ?go

Hi everybody

Ive been gathering info on US gear and uniform and this forum has been very helpful. I have another question and I hope I can once again benefit from your intel ... :D

My question is about the 3-cell 30 round Thompson or Grease gun ammo pouch (the type that went with the dml Mike Walker USMC tanker figure).

I read somewhere that those pouchs were only used by the USMC... and not army or paratroopers in the ETO, who were only using the 5-cell 20 round pouches (or the ammo bags slung over the shoulders)

But now I came across a drawing by Ron V, while screening some old osprey books on google books...he shows a 82nd AB para during Market Garden holding a grease gun and equipped with what seems to be a 3cell ammo pouch. I don't have the info that goes with the plates (it's not available on google and I don't have the book) so I don't know what he writes about that...

So my question is, would it be possible for a para or regular trooper in the ETO to have the 3cell ammo pouch for his grease gun ? (I plan on making a 17h airborne guy - ie, late war)

Thanks for your help !

I'm sure with the things the division riggers came up with It'd be possible to see a 3 cell pouch, but it wouldn't necessarily be the norm. A 3cell pouch would be much more common in the Pacific.
