Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

Mike use to sell it

Might try a place in the UK, or try plastruct.

https://plastruct.com/?s=diamond+pla...t_type=product

Daivd Dibb knows of the one in the UK.

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

Look for Plastruct #91685 or 91684 (they are both the same), that is what I used on my Pz IV.

Here is what it looks like.

Here is the real thing for comparison.

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

Not having any luck finding 1/24 tread plate, I found 1/16 diamond plate, however I don't think the Germans used diamond plat

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

The Plastruct #91685 is G scale / 1:24 Diamond Plate and is correct for the Pz IV.

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

I see thread plates on the Pz.IV walk around (I think it's the Aberdeen tank... when it had the tank outside)

I see "dot pattern" on the Panzer III. See pic below. Does any know why the German used different patterns?

Also, I don't find Plastruct 91685. Their website has them listed as PS-150 to PS-155, etc. I don't see a 1/24 thread pattern, 1/16, 1/48, and HO scale thread pattern. Did they discontinue 91685?

Mike Standard produced the diamond, thread and dot pattern in photo etch nickel plated sheets

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

When I needed some tread plate I took some very thin aluminum and placed it over some aluminum screen then took a wooden spatula and rubbed the thin aluminum causing raised bumps that looked close to tread plate. Used it for the floor plates in a 1/16th scale StugIII I scratch built

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

loic that is the Aberdeen Pz IV, that is the same one in the picture I showed above.
The part # for 91685 is PS-153 and 91684 is PS-152.
I have both and 152 says it is 1:48 and 153 is 1:24 but they are the same.

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

I think that's what John was asking. If PS-152 is the same in 1/48 or 1/24, then it is available online! (I cannot find anywhere the PS-153, they must have discontinued it)

It's very important for FOA/6SI because Mike Standard made some pattern sheets (diamond/threads/dots), and I think they are super expensive (and priced correctly because expensive to make in Photo Etch). I'd rather not produce them if a Plastruct sheet of similar size can be purchased for $10 (compared to $60).

I will order the PS-152 and compare it to Mike's sheets. I'll do the same for the diamond pattern

I'm still wondering where the DOT pattern for the Pz.III fenders come from? That one might be kept in production

An email to Plastruct might bring an answer , or a call.

Another source might be www.schulcz.de.

Check out their catalogue: http://schulcz.de/international/web/...KAT-retail.pdf

Not directly. I've bought some aluminum mesh produced by Schulcz at a local store for arts & crafts.

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

I use JTT Architectural Model Parts G scale Double Diamond Plate. It is a plastic sheet pattern 7.5" x 12" two sheets to a pack for $6.99. Got the first packs at Hobby Lobby long ago then ordered direct. Made in Vietnam really well made.

look here for plastic sheets

Hi Hammer,

Assuming that you're buying the 1/16 scale product, do you have a photo as a scale comparison?

Cheers
Allan

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

I use the G scale size on my stuff, and it looks to scale and is well detailed. The price is right also.

Hi Loic,

Did the PS-152 work out well for your Pz.III?

Re: 1/6 scale tread plate?

PS-152 is the diamond tread plate. Great for American vehicles or even Pz.IV, but not accurate for Pz.III. Panzer III fenders had a dot pattern. I cannot find this pattern outside the Photo Etch plates that Mike Standard designed

Thanks for confirming, Loic! I will try the route of reinforced embossed paper with a dot pattern.
