• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Field kitchen II

Hi!

some years ago I posted some pics of my field kitchen trying to find someone that could provide me with plates with German text to add to it. Here comes a second attempt!

LOL, I think I just figured out what you mean by "plates with German text" :D
I thought you were asking about plates as in the kind we eat from, and I had no info or help to give and was scratching my head thinking, 'did the German troops eat off of porcelain plates in the field?' :D
I think you are asking about the 'data' plates. I still have no info or help to give but thought it was funny how clueless I am :D

I have seen some field kitchens with plates. If I happen upon them again I will link them and maybe you can contact the modeler.
Cheers.

Sorry Sixth Vanguard, I guess my english was not up to par there... anyway, it seems I found someone that could help me with that ! (I mean the plates , not my English ;-)) I will update the post if and when.

Somewhere in my stash I have a complete set of the data plates for the field kitchen. I forgot who I got them from. I got them about 10 years ago or so...

That is indeed a great rendition, as a fan of the German field kitchen I've also struggled with trying to find the instructional plates and ended up just printing from internet imagery and from the excellent Schiffer book on the subject. Seems to be the one piece required that really makes the vehicle pop. Good luck, Steve

If anyone needs the 3 data plates for the Fieldkitchen, I can supply them for a cost of € 4 plus postage. And I'll send you two sets just in case you mess one up...

The best way to apply these is by using some very thin (1/24 inch or 1mm) styrene sheet (painted black) and then apply the decals.

Thank you all for your comments, and my apologies for a late answer. The reason has been that I got some magnificent kitchen utelsils as well as data plates from The Dutchman and it has taken me some some time to put things together. Here are some pics so you can see for yourselves:
