• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Sd Kfz 250-7 Neu

Rob Pz

Rifleman
Greetings All,

I am a late-comer to 1/6th scale, having built mostly 1/35 - 1/32 models back in the late 70's - early 80's, then did'nt build anything for a few decades. I had seen some 1/6th scale stuff when it started coming out, but did'nt have the time and all that... Anyway, I came across this site and a couple others, several years ago, and liked the builds. So, I looked around, and found FOA kits were available. It took a lot of scratch building.

The Sd Kfz 250 Neu is one of my favorite German half-tracks, and liked the mortar variant of the 250 Alte. Pics of the 250-7 Neu are rare, and I found no interior pics of a war-time vehicle, but a couple exterior pics. From there, I did a lot of inference and a fair amount of artistic license, to come up with a plausible interior, based on other 250's currently in existence. I found a couple pics of a scrapped vehicle that still had most of the mortar base in it, so built that as close as I could. After it was built, I found a pic of the back of the vehicle, and realize the baseplate is hanging upside down, to be corrected.

I recently got some guidance on the tactical numbers, and markings, so that is yet to be done. Here are some pics. I see we can post 5 pics per post, so if anyone wants more pics, let me know.

Thanks,
Rob

That's a very nice 250-7 Neu. I've been collecting info on the interior also as I want to build a 250-7 old. If you could share some pictures of the interior, in particular the base-plate that would be great.

Thanks!

Thank you for the welcome, and compliments.

There is still much to be done, but here are some more pics.

The first pic is from the halftrack remains I used for the baseplate of the 250-7 Neu, then my inferred / imagineered version.

I will load a few more pics with each post.

I have some pics of an Alte mortar carrier.

I'm guessing the baseplate pic is from a 250 Alte, as it is similar to the restored one in the last 2 pics; pretty sure those are from Militracks, then there are the 2 wartime pics.

It's probable that the baseplate was the same for the 250 Neu, but by the time I found the baseplate pic, I had based the model baseplate on another model builder's work.

wow, that is indeed superb work and detailing...thanks for sharing and welcome to the SAG, if your current thread is anything to go then you'll fit right in. Cheers, Steve

Thank you for the compliment.

Here are a few more pics.

I will be working on the insignia and numbers soon, then will post the results.

The base kit is from Field Of Armor.

Most of the details came from Zhukov's Attic.

Clamp fittings are Armorpax photoetch.

A lot of the brackets are thin aluminum, and there is a a lot of styrene, and about 1/4 pound of JB-Weld.

Figures were purchased second hand on ebay.

The camo job is not one of my better ones...

Great work! My first build was 250 Neu. Something like 15 years ago. Such an ugly brute. I always forget how small they are until I see them with figures.

Nicely done, Rob!

Welcome to the board! Great reference photos as well!

P.S. You should make charges for your mortar rounds so they go somewhere when your crew fires them. They're little white discs that fit around the shaft of the round just above the fins. Just cut them out of some white card stock and they'll work just fine in 1:6th.
