• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Does anyone have some good reference site(s) for the US Army Jeep? :s Also, a customizer or customizers that produce 1/6 parts and upgrades for the jeep? :S

Armorpax offers the twin Vickers guns and mounts to use on SAS Jeeps and the single mount for Airborne Jeeps. They need to think about offering a full kit for conversions with gun shields and extended range fuel tank kits and radio gear for the ETO versions. That would rock.
I don't know of a lot of Jeep accessories being offered in the aftermarket. But again, Armorpax has some universal US and British vehicle items like antenna bases and tools that would be great improvements or add ons to your Jeep.

John,

Thanks for the websites, they are exactly what I am looking for. :-D When you talk about SS making parts for the jeep, who is SS? :S

Mutt71,

Thanks for the data plate site. :-D I will have to add them to the project. I will also check out Armopax's stuff.

As far as long range fuel tanks go, I made my own out of wood. Sanded them to shape, filed the grain patterns and smoothed everythinig out. After painting they look like metal. Added some straps to secure them to the jeep and went on to the next task. Simple really. Hardest part was eliminating the wood grain. Seal the surface, sand and repeat as necessary. And it couldn't be any cheaprer either. I have an abundance of scrap wood in my garage and simply glued 2 pieces together to get the size I needed.

The armor plates on the gun mounts is nothing but a couple of small pieces of clear acrylic, sanded and painted. Again real easy and cheap.

As soon as I master the casting process, I'm going to start making some leaf springs and tow hooks. I can use them on my batch of jeep trailers. Can't buy them, so I guess I'll have to make them myself.

Hers's a pic of the finished ETO SAS jeep.

Try it, it's not hard.

Great looking SAS Jepp Kilroy6! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Another fine example of what can be done with a little imagination (of materials and techniques) to make the version one wants to have.
