• Pardon the dust while the boys rebuild the site.

The board will be in a state of disarray as I get things sorted out, for a little while at least.

The new incarnation is using Xenforo as the system software. It is much like what we are used to, with a few differences. I will see about making a FAQ to help point out the differences for the members.

One IMPORTANT difference for all of us old timers is that the 'mail' system is replaced with what are called 'conversations'/

There is no 'Inbox' or 'Out box' or 'Sent' folders anymore.

Think of Conversations as private 'threads' or topics that don't exist in a forum, that you start with another member. NOTE: Conversations can include more than one member if you or someone else in the conversaion, likes.
Takes a little getting used to but I am sure you all can get a hang of it.

Only a slightly modified default default Xenforo style is available for now. Once the new SAG style is ready it will be available.

All existing users should be able to login with their usernames and passwords once the site goes up.

If anyone has difficulties logging in please contact me at sixthvanguard@gmail.com.

Thank you for your support and patience. I know it has been a loooong road.

Veterans Day Tribute

Company Commander
As a Vietnam veteran, and disabled veteran, I want to thank our brothers and sisters in arms.

There are also plenty of Americans who appreciate our service.

If I may go a little off track with a story.

In 1975, NYC cancelled the annual Vet Day parade. No money, they said. A single citizen stepped forward and told NYC, "I'll pay for the parade." His organization contacted all the Tri-State military vehicle collectors clubs and offered to pay mileage and tolls, to bring our vehicles to the parade. I was a MV collector and Treasurer of one of these clubs. About 100 vehicles collected at Floyd Benet Field in Brooklyn. We were given breakfast and made a convoy. I drove a 1943 1 1/2 ton Chevy Radio Van. We were escorted by NYPD motorcycle troopers. Unreal, we drove down Flatbush Ave, from one end of Brooklyn to the bridge into Manhattan. Every intersection was blocked for us. Not a traffic light to the 5th Ave form up point. At the form up point dozens of guys and gals came around and gave us a box lunch for everybody in the parade, compliments of the civilian organization. We also had big WW2 trucks and tanks that had be tractor trailered to the parade, paid for by the private organization. After the parade, most of us reversed the route with NYPD motorcycle escort. The civilian did all this without wanting any credit. I will always be thankful to him. I think of him every Veterans Day. This is not a fable, I was there, everybody in my clubs was promptly paid the mileage/tolls. This man was Donald J. Trump. Like him or not, he did this for veterans.
